Great location 10 minutes from the Blue lagoon. We stayed here on our first night in Iceland going straight from the airport to the Blue lagoon then checked in.
Not a lot here but there’s a pretty church here
Tip: don’t buy supplies in the airport shop - we stocked up & it cost us a fortune. There’s a Netto in Grindavík

Grindavik is a small, beautiful fishing village close to the Geldingadalur volcano (but not too close) and the Blue Lagoon. It has many excellent hiking opportunities and great restaurants. Grindavik is surrounded by a beautiful natural landscape. Whale-watching, fishing, mountaineering, very friendly people, safe environment, you name it, Grindavik has it all!

Great location for Meradalir.
Great location for Meradalir. Fabulous fish and chips at Papas - Grindavik is a fishing town, so all fish is fresh that morning. Lovely walking around the town. Very peaceful. Great for exploring south coast and peninsula. Only 25 mins from Keflavik.

We stopped for one night during our Iceland tour to visit the Blue Lagoon and Fagradalsfjall, the volcano that erupted in 2021 and is still smoldering several months later. Grindavik is a working fishing village with a few local restaurants, grocery store and pharmacy, so is a really good spot to stay for a day when touring Iceland. It is not touristy though so don’t expect lots of shops selling the usual.

This is a dock terminal terrible views, bad aspect for tourists, cabin super smaill no microwave, no waste basket in bathroom, nothing to sweep with, place is creepy, huge caping yard nezt to the property that makes it seem dangerous. Lonely area! For this price you can get a top notch place.

Grindavik is a lovely town with a huge fisherman history.
Grindavik is a lovely town with a huge fisherman history. It's super close to the Blue lagoon and volcano so, there are many options for hiking or relaxing. There's a grill place with a super nice man who told me a little about the history and life of Grindavik's people and he also sells awesome hotdogs. Wish I could've stayed longer but a huge storm came so I had to run away :)
The cottages were just as described. A neat package. Good views over the harbour. Nice easy drive from the airport and on the doorstep of Blue Lagoon so we stayed two nights so we could have a leisurely few hours at the lagoon. Interesting walk around the coast to the lighthouse too.
And Papa's nearby does the best fish and chips we have EVER tasted - seriously tender and obviously fresh out of the water - Grindavik is a fishing hub.
Oh and my daughter saw the northern lights here briefly - only time on our 10 day visit!
I was charged nearly 50 USD for a breakfast, but they never made it for me. These people hate tourists and view us as scum that they can exploit. Really nasty spite ridden people that have a burning hatred for foreigners. Go to a proper hotel where you will be treated with respect. The owners will lie and say that none of this is true, but check out my other reviews. I have stayed in numerous hotels and most are excellent. Don't get involved with these people.
This family run hotel was very well kept and professional. The restaurant named fondly after the owners passed dog Max, served a delicious dinner. They also served an early (complementary) breakfast for the travelers heading to an early departing flight. The facilities offered were also impressive. Unfortunately we were unable to use any of them because they closed too early for us (around 9pm)
This is a really charming apartment that is clean and well-designed, very spacious for our family of 4. The location is great - just 20 minutes to the blue lagoon and airport, and not far from restaurants in Grindivik. The host was very accommodating when our flights were rescheduled and provided some groceries too. All in all a great place and would definitely recommend!
Hotel staff lovely. Spa staff somewhat indifferent. Room was cozy, although mattress was a bit too big for the bed and curled over.. The breakfasts were excellent. Food at the Spa and Lava restaurant generally good enough. The green salad was a handful of lettuce, no dressing or any other salad accompaniments; the lamb was tender but bland. Bread was phenomenal.
Good place to stay for just a night. There is a restaurant very next to it (belongs to another hotel) so getting morning coffee or breakfast was easy. Other wise although a good place this property is located is sort of drab, industrial, Wearhouse looking area.
We wanted a reasonable and comfortable stay near Blue Lagoon. This did fit the bill perfectly.
A perfect stay in order to visit the Blue Lagoon and get up early to go to the airport which is only a short drive. A well equipped kitchen means you can buy some food from the supermarket just down the road and cook for yourself. Grindavik itself doesn’t have much else to offer! The owners allowed us to check in early and were very friendly.
The accommodation is situated close to the Blue lagoon (20 min by car). Quiet neighbourhood and parking spot for the car in front of the house. The host was friendly and has recommended us great restaurants nearby. The kitchen is well equipped, the bedroom is big enough and cosy.
Breakfast was very good with very tasty food.
People were very friendly. Great location for us, we travelled to many places in Grindavik. The restaurant in the hotel was terrific, we ate dinners several times there. The fish on the menu was the best.
Fun and different accommodations for our stay in Grindavik. Super clean—ladies actually cleaned the cottage and replaced our towels every day we were there, which wasn’t something we were expecting. Good location to volcano and short drive to capital.
This property was in a great location close to the airport, Blue Lagoon, and Reykjavík. It’s also close to many of the sites tourists are interested in on southern/south western Iceland. And the owners were GREAT communicators.
The hotel is very close to Blue Lagoon, and has its own shuttle bus that could take you there. The room is very spacious! They serve delicious breakfast and has its own restaurant that serves superb food!
Stayed here for one night during our travels through Iceland. The hotel was really nice, comfortable and clean and they had the cutest wool blankets in the room. Breakfast was really good and diverse.
Location was in Grindavik, close to the Volcano. First day and night after our flight in. Set up like a long-stay suite with self-catering kitchen facilities. Worked for our needs.
